Answer:

-5

Step-by-step explanation:

Mean is nothing but average.

If 'a' is subtracted from all the data having mean or average = N,

then the resultant mean after subtracting 'a' from all the data is (N-a).

So, 5-10 = -5.

Given : mean of a set data is 5

To Find : what will the mean if ten is subtracted from each data?

a) -5

b) -15

c) 10

d) 5

Solution:

Let say number of data points = n

Mean of Data set  = 5

Total of Data set = 5n

10 is subtracted from Each data

Hence 10n  will be subtracted

New Total = 5n  - 10n

= - 5n

Number of data = n

New Mean = -5n/n

= - 5

New Mean will be -5
