the mean of six numbers is 30. If one number is excluded, the mean is 29. Find the value of number which is excluded.

sum of 6 numbers = 30× 6 = 180
sum of 5 numbes =2 9×5 =145
the number that was excluded = 180−145
=35

Total numbers excluded = 1

Mean after exclusion = 29

To Find:

The value of number which is excluded.

Solution:

Sum of six numbers will be -

= 6 × 30

= 180

Similarly,

Sum of five numbers will be -

= 5 × 29

= 145

Number that was excluded -

= 180 - 145

= 35

Answer: The value of the number which was excluded is 35.
