Answer:

X=28

Step-by-step explanation:

Mean=Sum of observations/No.Of observation

X-2+x+6+x-6+x+8+x+12/5=26(Mean)

=4x+18/5=26

4x+18=26×5

4x+18=130

4x=130-18

4x=112

Therefore: X=28

Given:

The mean of six observations (x+6), (x-6), X,

(x+8), (x+12) and (x-2) is 26

To Find:

The observation

Solution:

As we know that the mean

As we know that the mean = Sum of all observations/Total number of

As we know that the mean = Sum of all observations/Total number of observations

So,

According to the Question:

Mean = ((x+6)+(x-6)+X+(x+8)+(x+12)+(x-2))/6

= (6x+18)/6

=6(x+3)/6

=(x+3)

Now,

Mean = 26

So

x+3 = 26

x = 23

Then

observations are

(x+6) = 23+6

= 29

(x-6) = 23-6

= 17

X = 23

(x+8) = 23+8

= 31

(x+12) = 23+12

= 35

(x-2) = 23-2

= 21

Hence, the observations are 29,17,31,35,21,23
