The mean of the following distribution is 1080. Find the missing frequency.

Height of trees(in cm) 800-900, 900-1000, 1000-1100, 1100-1200, 1200-1300, 1300-1400, 1400-1500.

No. of trees 10, 15, 8, 12, X, 5, 3 respectively.

∴ Here, n = 250 then,

 \frac{n}{2}  =  \frac{250}{2}  = 125

⇒  Median class = 150 − 200

l=150,cf=63,f=90,h=50

⇒Median \: 1 +  \frac{ \frac{n}{2}  - ef}{f}  \times h

 = 150  \frac{125 - 63}{90}  \times 50 \\  = 150 + 34.44 \\  = 184.44
