Mhelbi: Please 3rd Q steps needed!
Deepikalakshmi: I am not able to post the picture
Deepikalakshmi: let the og expenditure be rs x.
Deepikalakshmi: this the tot expense=x/day. no of students=35 . hence og cost per head is x/35
Deepikalakshmi: new expense=(x+42)/day. New no of students=(35+7)=42. hence new cost per head= (x+42)/42
Deepikalakshmi: given that (x+42)/42= (x/35)-1
Deepikalakshmi: solve and tell me if my answer is correct
Mhelbi: Answer is coming as Rs.420 .Thanks once again for your help sister!
Deepikalakshmi: my pleasure
Mhelbi: Sister your answers are correct.Are you happy?

6

The value of p is 7.

Explanation:

  • Given that mean of the distribution is 6.
  • As we know mean is nothing but the sum of the values of observations divided by the total number of observations

Given mean of x = 6

As per given question \Sigma xy will be 6+8+18+10+2p+10 = 2p+52

Also summation of \Sigma  y = 3+2+3+1+2 = 11

So \overline x = \frac{\Sigma xy}{\Sigma y} = 6

So \frac{2p+52}{11} =6

2p+52 = 66

2p = 14

p = 7

Hence the value of the variable p is 7.
