Answer:

Given :

  • Mean marks of 40 students were found to be 35.
  • Later it was discovered score of 43 misread as 34.

To Find:-

  • The mean after correcting the wrong score

  • For calculating the sum of observations, formula is given by :-

\red{ \underline{  \red{\boxed{\sf{Sum \: of \: observations = Mean \times No. \: of \: observations}}}} }

Plugging the values,

:

:\implies \sf \: 35 \times 40 = 1,400:

 \sf \: \underline{ \underline{ \red{According \: to \: the \: Question : }}}

: \implies \sf \:  1400+9

: \implies \red{\underline{ \boxed{\frak \red{1,409}}}}

Now, we need to divide 1,409 by 100

: \implies \rm \: Mean = \dfrac{1,409}{40}\\ \\ \sf\sf: \implies \underline{ \boxed{\rm{{Mean} =  \underline{\bold{\purple{35.225}}}}}}

Hence This is Answer.

Given : The mean of the marks scored by 40 students was found to be 35. Later on it was discovered that a score of 43 was misread as 34.

To Find: the correct mean

Solution:

The mean of the marks scored by 40 students was found to be 35

=> Total marks = 40 * 35

=> Total marks = 1400

a score of 43 was misread as 34.

Hence correct total = 1400 - 34 + 43

= 1409

Correct mean  = 1409/40

= 35.225

Hence correct mean = 35.225
