The mean of the number 6,y,7,x and 14 is 8 express y in terms of x

(6+y+7+x+14)/5 = 8
     6+y+7+x+14 = 40
     27+x+y = 40
     x+y = 40-27
     x+y = 13
     y = 13-x

6+7+X+y+14/5=8

27+x+y=40
x+y=40-27
y=13-x
or
x=13-y
