The value of a = ?

|| FORMULA ||

 \bf \: Mean =   \dfrac{Sum \:  of \:  the \:  terms}{Total  \: number  \: of \:  Terms}

|| SOLUTION ||

Mean = Sum of the terms / Total no of terms.

 \implies \:  \dfrac{6 + 4 + 7 + a + 10}{5}  = 8

Given , Mean = 8

 \implies \:  \dfrac{27 + a}{5}  = 8

 \implies \: 27 + a = 40

 \implies \: a = 40 - 27

 \bf \:  \therefore \: \:  a = 13

Answer:

Given :-

the mean of the scores 6 , 4 , 7 , a , and 10 is 8

To Find :-

Value of a

Solution :-

We know that

Mean = Sum of observation/No. of observation

8 = 6 + 4 + 7 + a + 10/5

8 × 5 = 6 + 4 + 7 + a + 10

40 = 27 + a

40 - 27 = a

13 = a
