The mean of the set of no. 6,3,x,4,3,5,y is given by 5. Find the value of x+y

We know:

Mean=Sum of all numbers/Number of terms  

\implies5=\frac{6+3+x+4+3+5+y}{7}

\implies5=\frac{21+x+y}{7}

\implies21+x+y=35

\implies x+y=14.

x+y=14

Mean = sum of all the no.s/ total no. of no.s

= 6+3+x+ 4+3+5+y/7 = 5

= 21+x+y= 35

= x+y= 35-21

= x+y = 14
