sum of x+y observations =  (x+y) * (x-y) = x² - y²

that is what we can find. we know x and y are probably positive integers.

we cannot find x and y values without more information.

It is possible that the average of x observation is   x,  the average of some other  y observations is  -y.   So their sum is x* x + y * (-y) = x² - y² .
In that case the overall mean of x+y observations is  x-y.

We know that Mean is equal to
Mean=sum of terms/total no. terms
As given
x-y=x+y/1
1 (x-y)=x+y
x-y=x+y
x-y-x-y=0
-2y=0
So y=0 and x=1
