The mean score of 50 students is 72. If the score of one student is wrongly copied as 48 instead of 98, the correct mean is:

Answer :-

Mean = Sum of observations / Total number of observations

72 = Sn / 50

Sn = 50 × 72

Sn = 3600

Hence, Sum of observations = 3600.

Error in measurement = 98 - 48

= 50

Hence, the sum of observations should be 3600 + 50 = 3650

Mean = 3650 / 50

= 73

Correct mean = 73
