Mean wage of 400 male reporters in a media industry = Rs. 300/day

Number of male reporters = 400

We know that Mean = Sum of the observations/Number of the observations

=> Sum of the observations = Mean * Number of observations

So  Total sum of wages of male reporters = Mean wage of 400 male reporters in a media industry * Number of male reporters

=  300 * 400

= 120000

Total sum of wages of male reporters = Rs. 120000

Mean wage of 260 female reporters in a media industry = Rs. 190/day

Number of female reporters = 260

We know that Mean = Sum of the observations/Number of the observations

=> Sum of the observations = Mean * Number of observations

So  Total sum of wages of female reporters = Mean wage of 260 female reporters in a media industry * Number of female reporters

=  190 * 260

= 49400

Total sum of wages of male reporters = Rs. 49400

Total sum of wages of male and female reporter in a media industry = 120000 + 49400 = Rs.169400

Total number of reporters in media industry = 400 + 260 = 660

We know that Mean = Sum of the observations/Number of observations

Combine mean = Total sum of wages of male and female reporter in a media industry/Total number of reporters in media industry

= 169400/660

= 256.667

So Rs.256.667 / day would be the combine mean of the reporters.
