the mean weight of 6 boys in a group is 48.the individual weight of five of them are 51 kg,45kg,49kg,46kg,44kg.find the weight of the sixth boy

let the weight of the 6 boy be x
mean = sum of all observations/total no. of observations
48 =  \frac{51 + 45 + 49 + 46 + 44 + x}{6}  \\ 288 = 51 + 45 + 49 + 46 + 44 + x \\ 288 - 235 = x \\ x = 53
therefore the weight of 6th boy=53 kg
