The mean weight of 60 students in a class is 40 kg. The mean weight of boys is 50 kg while that of girls is 30 kg. Find the number of boys and girls in the class.

no of observations =60
total weight of all 60 students=60*40=2400
let no of boys be x and no of girls be y
total weight of boys =mean *number: 50*x
total weight of girls =mean *number.: 30 *y
therefore
(50x+30y) /60=40........(1..)
x+y=60...... (2.)
solving both equation.:
x=30 and y=30
