where a and b are parallel sides

h is the height between parallel sides

Let a= 4cm , h = 10cm , b= ?

Area = 1/2 (4+b ) 10

80 = 1/2 (4+b) 10

80/10 = 1/2 (4+b)

8×2 = (4+b)

16-4 = b

b= 12 cm

Therefore the length of the parallel side is 12 cm
