the measure of two adjacent sides of a rectangle is in the ratio 11:10.If the perimeter of the rectangle is 84cm,then find its length and breadth.

Let the length and breadth be x ie.11x and 10x
Perimeter=84 cm
x=as given below

84=2×(11x+10x)
84/2=11x + 10x
42=21x
42/21=x
x=2

Now let's find length and breadth by putting the values..............

Length=11×2=22cm
Breadth=10×2=20cm

•Check..........

=2(22+20)
=2(42)
=84 as given.

Means the answer is right.

Perimeter of the rectangle

= 2 × (11x + 10x) cm

= 2 × 21x cm

= 42x cm

Since perimeter of the rectangle is 84 cm

∴ 42x = 84

Find length and breadth of the rectangle

42x = 84

⇒ x = 84/42

⇒ x = 2

Length of the rectangle

= 11x cm

= 11 × 2 cm

= 22 cm

Breadth of the rectangle

= 10x cm
