The answer is 39.82

GIVEN

The measurements of a diameter of a cylinder were recorded by a Scientist as 38.8,40.9,39.2, 39.7,40.2, 39.5, 40.3, 39.2, 39.8, 40.6.

TO FIND

The arithmetic mean of the measurements.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that,

Arithmetic mean = Sum of all observation/number of observation.

Number of measurements of diameter = 10

Sum of the measurements.= 38.8 + 40.9 + 39.2+ 39.7 + 40.2 + 39.5 + 40.3 + 39.2 + 39.8 + 40.6 = 398.2

Arithmetic mean of the diameter = 398.2/10 = 39.82

Hence, The answer is 39.82
