Answer :-

paper required = 60690 cm²

Explanation :-

If a text book is to be covered with paper then only there need to cover .

so , we have to cover top surface, bottom surface and one side surface

Now ,

Area of top surface = Area of bottom surface = 22 cm X 11cm = 242 cm²

Area of the side surface = 22cm X 3 cm = 66 cm²

Total surface area to be covered = 242+ 242 + 66 = 550 cm²

Paper reqd for folding = 164 cm²

Total paper reqd for one book = 550 + 164 = 714 cm²

Total paper reqd for 85 books= 85 × 714 = 60690 cm²

Question:-

The measures of a text book are 22 cm×11cm×3cm. It is to be covered with a brown paper. If each book requires 164² of more paper for folding, how much paper is required to wrap 85 such text books?

Given:-

  • The measures of a textbook are 22cm × 11cm × 3cm.

To Find:-

  • Paper required to wrap 85 such textbooks.

Solution:-

  • Length of book (l) = 22cm.
  • Breadth of book (b) = 11cm.
  • Height of book (h) = 3cm.

Surfaces to be covered are:-

AEHD (front), BFGC(back), ABEF(side).

Surface area of AEHD = Surface of BFGC.

= 2 × (l × b)

= 2 × (22 × 11)cm²

= 484cm².

Surface area of ABEF = l × h (22 × 3)cm² = 66cm².

Area of paper required for folding = 164cm².

Total area of paper required =

(484 + 66 + 164)cm².

Area of paper required for 85 books = (85 × 714)cm².

= 60,690cm².

Answer:-

Area of paper required to cover 85 textbooks is 60,690cm².
