If a text book is to be covered with paper

we have to cover top surface, bottom surface and one side surface

Area of top surface = Area of bottom surface = 22 cm X 11cm = 242 cm2

Area of the side surface = 22cm X 3 cm = 66 cm2

Total surface area to be covered = 242+ 242 + 66 = 550 cm2

Paper reqd for folding = 164 cm2

Total paper reqd for one book = 550 + 164 = 714 cm2

Total paper reqd for 85 books= 85 * 714 = 60690 cm2 (Answer)

amount of paper required to cover 1 textbook = 164cm²

no of text books to be covered = 85

therefore, total amount of paper to be required =

164 \times 85
