Given:

Median marks of 100 students = 45

64 was wrongly recorded as 46.

To find:

The correct median.

Solution:

As we know that median:

= ∑Marks of the students/ Total number of students

Let the total marks of all the students be x.

45 = x/100

x = 4500

Now since 64 was wrongly taken as 46, New total marks of the students:

= 4500 - 46 + 64

=4518

Number of students = 100

Median = ∑Marks of the students/ Total number of students

= 4518/100 = 45.18

Therefore, the correct median is 45.18.
