sprao534: suppose x=10,then2x=20 is the 5th term. so 5th term is not median. meddle term is 4th term =17 is the median

GIVEN :

The data set is 2x, 5, 3x, 12, 5x, 17, 6 and its median is 20

TO FIND :

The value of x in the given data set

SOLUTION :

Given that the data is 2x, 5, 3x, 12, 5x, 17, 6 and its median is 20

Number of data = 7 and Median=20

$\frac{2x+5+3x+12+5x+17+6}{7}=20$

$10x+40=20\times 7$

10x+40=140

10x=140-40

10x=100

$x=\frac{100}{10}$

∴ x=10.
