The given statement is FALSE.
Justification: The median just divides the side (opposite to the angle from which the median is drawn) into two equal parts.It is not necessary that they bisect at right angles and form two right angled triangles.
If it would be Altitude instead of median the statement would be true because altitude is the line emerging from an angle to make a perpendicular at its base.
For example,(the image below can be drawn of ΔABC).
