The first 8 prime numbers are: 2 3 5 7 11 13 17 and 19  .

median = average of n/2 and n/2+1 terms
=> average of 4th and 5th terms
=>7+11/2
=>18/2
=>9.

Therefore the median is 9.

The first eight prime numbers are:
2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19.
No: of observations , n = 8 (even)
Median of an even no: is n/2 and n/2+1
n/2 = 8 / 2 = 4
n/2+1 = 4+1 = 5
∴ 4th and 5th observation are the middle no:s, i e. 7 an 11 are the middle no :s.

Median = average of n/2 th and n/2+1 th observations...
= (7+11) ÷ 2 = 18 ÷ 2 = 9

∴ Median = 9
