Here total observations are 10

$\frac{10}{2} = 5 \\ \\ \frac{10}{2} + 1 = 6 \: element$
5th element = 38

6th element = 42

$Median = \frac{38 + 42}{2} \\ \\ = \frac{80}{2} \\ \\ = 40$
