we will arrange the the following data:

75,75,80,94,96,98,100,102,180,200,270,610

as no of observation is 12 I.e even
then
then the median will be :
98+100/2=198/2
=99

therefore median is 99

Given,

The following set of observations: 98, 75, 96, 180, 270, 102, 94, 100,610,200, 75, 80

To find,

The median of the given data.

Solution,

The median of the given data will be 99.

We can easily solve this problem by following the given steps.

We know that the median is the middle number in the given observations if the the number of observations are odd and if it is even then the median is the average of two middle numbers.

According to the question,

Observations: 98, 75, 96, 180, 270, 102, 94, 100,610,200, 75, 80

Arranging them in increasing order,

75, 75, 80, 94, 96, 98, 100, 102, 180, 200, 270, 610

There are a total of 12 numbers (even).

So, the two middle numbers will be the 6th and 7th term. (n/2 and n+1/2)

The 6th and 7th terms are 98 and 100 respectively.

Median = (98+100)/2

Median = 198/2

Median = 99

Hence, the median of the given data is 99.
