The meiocyte of an onion plant contains 32 chromosomes. Work out the number of chromosomes in its (a) endosperm; and (b) tapetum.​

If the number of chromosomes in meiocytes of an onion is 32, then the number of chromosomes in gamete cells will be 16. Furthermore, as endosperm is formed after the fusion of one sperm nucleus with two egg nucleus called triple fusion, then it's chromosome number will be 48.
