The essential ingredients for baking a cake are flour, eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, vegetable oil, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract and sour cream.

First of all, all the dry ingredients, like flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder are taken in accurate proportions in a bowl and mixed thoroughly.

Then all the wet ingredients including the eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract and vegetable oil are mixed well in another bowl. Now a round pan is greased and pre-heated, where all the dry and wet mixtures are added and again mixed very well.

This pan is then put inside the microwave oven and baked in high power for 20 – 25 minutes. The electromagnetic radiation and convectional mode of heating are the scientific phenomena applied in making a cake.
