Standard room temperature is 298 K. So melting point below 298 K will be liquid at room temperature so 280 K will be liquid at room temperature while 320 K will be solid..

Answer:

Substance A is liquid at room temperature.

Explanation:

  • By convention, the standard room temperature is 25 degrees Celsius which is 298 Kelvin
  • Any substance which is at a temperature above its melting point will be in the liquid state
  • Any substance which is at a temperature below its melting point will be in the solid-state
  • Substance A which has a melting point of 280K will be in the liquid state
  • The room temperature is above the melting point of substance A
  • Substance B which has a melting point of 320K will be in the solid state
  • The room temperature is below the melting point of substance A

Due to the above reasons, substance A with a melting point of 280K will be liquid at 298K room temperature.
