☆the merchant of venice Act 1 scene 3☆
we are then transported to a public square in venice,where bassanio is asking the money- lending Jew, Shylock to loan antonio three thousand ducats for three months. Shylock gives it a thought and says that as antonio is a good man,he will lend the amount to him even though Antonio's present financial state is a jeopardy due to wrong investment Shylock says that he can provide the loan on one of Antonio's flesh if he is not able to pay his back within the stipulated time.As Bassanio and Shylock are talking about it and Bassanio does not want to get a loan on such condition. Antonio arrived and agrees for the loan.They decide to meet at the notary where Antonio will sign the bond and take three thousand ducats from shylock.
