The metal oxide which cannot be reduced to metal by carbon is aluminum oxide.

Option (b) is the right answer

It's due to the following reasons :

- When oxide is reduced at the high temperature with cabron then it's termed as smelting.

- Oxides of the electropositive metals ( Pb , Fe , Zn ) are heated in a blast furnace either with coke or with coal.

- Carbon reduction will not take place in aluminum oxide because it's very stable.
