Sound is a result of vibrations that produce mechanical waves of audible range of frequencies.
For humans, the audible sound frequency range is 20 Hz to 20000 Hz.
If a metal or even a non metal is shaped in a way that when force is applied on it by some object, it vibrates to produce sound waves of audible sound frequency range, then we can hear the sound for sure.
