Math, asked by jaiswalz, 1 year ago

the meter is defined as the distance travelled by light in 1/299792458 second. why didn't people choose some easier number such as 1/300,000,000 second? why not 1 second?

Like while launching a rocket, if any time inequality occurred then it would be crash

This is because that is the exact speed of light 299792458m/s so they choose it. Well i personally think they already had choose the limit of one second and after the light of speed was found they gave their explanation.
BUT I DON'T KNOW THE REAL ANSWER

jaiswalz: np
jaiswalz: thanks
alex57: its ok
