Given :-

  • A line joining two points (5,2) and (7,4).

To find :-

  • Mid point of the given line.

Solution :-

  • Let the point A(5,2) and B(7,4) be the points of the line segment and P(x,y) be the mid point of the line segment.

For finding the mid point, we use mid-point formula.

\implies\bf{P(x,y) = \bigg(\dfrac{x_1 + x_2}{2} , \dfrac{y_1 + y_2}{2} \bigg)}

  • \sf{x_1 = 5\: and\: x_2 = 7}
  • \sf{y_1 = 2 \: and \: y_2 = 4}

Putting all the values in the formula.

\tt\longrightarrow{P(x,y) = \bigg( \dfrac{5 + 7}{2} , \dfrac{2 + 4}{2} \bigg)}

\tt\longrightarrow{P(x,y) = \bigg( \dfrac{12}{2} , \dfrac{6}{2} \bigg)}

\tt\longrightarrow{P(x,y) = (6 , 3)}

Therefore,

  • Midpoint of the given line segment is P(6,3).
