    Because all of we know the middle colonies of USA is based mainly on farming. The middle colonies have fertile soil. That's why they produce major amount of wheat and oats. There are a lot of "large scale farming" in the "southern part" of the "Middle colonies" where the soil present there was more appropriate for farming and "more fertile" and the "climate was more suited" for farming.

   Middle colonies became known as “the breadbasket colonies”. Because There exists very rich soil and a pleasing climate for the growth of crops in the Middle colonies. Papermaking, textiles production, shipbuilding, and  logging were most important in the "Middle Colonies".
