The Western Coastal Plain is 50 km wide and lies between the Western Ghats hills and the west coast of India. The plains are situated between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. They extend from Gujarat in the north to Kerala in the south. They pass through the states of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
It consists of three sections:
1. The northern part is called the Konkan (Mumbai-Goa).
2. The central part is called the Kanara.
3. The southern part is referred to as the Malabar Coast.
