The mighty troll climbs a 25km high mountain with an elephant in one hands and a cat in the other. It drops the elephant and a cat at the same time from his hand, calculate the time taken and speed by both to reach the ground? (t=70.71s, v=707.1m/s-1

Answer:

The time taken and velocity achieved will be the same for both cat and elephant.

v^{2} = 2gh = 2 X 10 X 25000 = 500000

or, v = \sqrt{500000} = 707.1m/s

Also,

H = \frac{1}{2} gt^{2}

or, t^{2} = \frac{2H}{g} = \frac{2 X 25000}{10} = 5000

or, t = \sqrt{5000} = 70.71s

Given :

v^{2}=2 \mathrm{gh}=2 \times 10 \times 25000=500000\text { or, } v=\sqrt{500000}=707.1 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}

\text { Also, }

\mathrm{H}=\frac{1}{2} g t^{2}

\text { or, } t^{2}=\frac{2 H}{g}=\frac{2 X 25000}{10}=5000

\text { or, } t=\sqrt{5000}=70.71 \mathrm{~s}

The time taken and velocity achieved will be the same for both cat and elephant.
