The minimum distance between earth and mars is 5.46x10^7 km
This distance will occur in the year 2287
In 2287 if we send a signal to mars which travels at 3x10^5 km per second,
How many seconds will it take to travel to mars?

Given :-

  • Distance between Mars & Earth = \sf5.46\times\ 10^{7}km

  • Speed of the signal send by us = \sf3\times\ 10^{5}km/s

To Find :-

  • Time to travel to Mars

Answer :-

  • 182 Seconds

Concept Used :-

\bf{\boxed{\boxed{Time \:=\:\dfrac{Distance}{Speed}}}}

Explanation :-

\implies\sf{Time = \dfrac{Distance}{Speed}}

{}

\implies\sf{Time = \dfrac{5.46\times\ 10^{7}}{3\times\ 10^{5}}}

{}

\implies\sf{Time = \dfrac{\cancel{5.46}\times\cancel{\ 10^{5}}\times\ 10^{2}}{\cancel{3}\times\cancel{\ 10^{5}}}}

{}

\implies\sf{Time = 1.82\times\ 10^{2}sec.}

{}

\sf{\boxed{\boxed{\green{\dag{Time = 182sec.}}}}}

\bf{\underline{So\:Time \:taken \:by \:signal\:is\:182\:sec.}}

• Speed and distance are scaler quantity , means these have only magnitude but no direction

{}

• Unit of speed is km/hr OR m/sec.

{}

• Speed and Motion are of two types :-

  1. Uniform
  2. Non-Uniform

{}

• Here time will be in second because

Time = \sf{\dfrac{Distance}{Time}=\dfrac{km/s}{km}=\dfrac{\cancel{km}/s}{\cancel{km}}= s}
