The minimum force required to start pushing a body up a rough [Frictional cofficient μ )
inclined plane is F₁ while the minimum force needed to prevent it from sliding down is F₂ . if the inclined plane makes an angle θ from the horizontal such that tanθ = 2μ ,then tut ratio F₁/F₂ is [AIEEE 2011]

Explanation:- F₁ = mg(sin¢ + μcosθ) [as body just in position to move up , friction force downward ]

F₂ = mg(sin¢ - μcosθ) [As body just in position to slide down , friction upward ]

  • F₁/F₂ = sin¢ + μcos¢ /sin¢ - μcos¢
  • diciding by cosθ in numerator and denomenator
  • = tanθ + μ /tanθ - μ = 2μ + μ /2μ -μ = 3

F₁/F₂ = 3 Answer
