Keeping in view that, the minimum force required to start pushing a body up a rough inclined plane is F₁ while the maximum force needed to prevent it from sliding down is F₂. If the inclined plane makes an angle A from the horizontal such that tan○ =2(mu).

The ratio F₁/F₂ would be F₁/3F₂

This can be calculated when force is written;

F₁=mg(sinθ+∪cosθ) : F₂=mg(sinθ-∪cosθ)

Hence,

2sinθ=1/mg(F₁+F₂) : 2∪cosθ1/mg(F₁-F₂)

Thus,

F₁/3F₂
