The minute hand of a clock is 10 cm long. Find the displacement
and distance covered from 10.00a.m. to 10.30a.m.

Distance trvellled would be different for different points on the minute hand.

Assuming the point is at the tip of minute hand.

Therefore,

distance = \pi \times r

Because in 30 min, minute hand rotates half a circle.

distance = \pi \times 10

distance = 31.4 cm

Displacement is equal to diameter of the clock.

Therefore,

displacement = 2 \times r

displacement = 2 \times 10

displacement = 20 cm
