Given :   minute hand of a clock is 3.5cm long

To Find  : .what is the angle described by the minute hand in 20 minutes.

Solution:

Minute hand covers a round / circle  in 60 minutes

=> 60 minutes = 360°

=> 1 minute = 360/60 = 6°

=> 20 Minutes = 20 x 6 = 120°

Angle = 120°

Area covered = ( 120°/360)πr²

=  ( 120°/360)π(3.5)²

= (1/3)(22/7)(3.5)²

= 12.83  cm²

Length covered =  ( 120°/360)2πr

= ( 120°/360)2π(3.5)

= (1/3)2(22/7)(3.5)

= 22/3

= 7.33 cm
