The minute hand of a clock is 7cm long. find the area of the face of the clock by the minute hand betwee 9am and 9.35am

  • The total angle covered by minute hand in 60 minutes = 360°
  • Now the angle covered by minute hand in 1 minute = 360/60 = 6°.
  • The minute hand of the clock is 7 cm.
  • We have to find the area covered by the minute hand from 9 to 9:35 that is in 35 minutes.
  • Total angle covered in 35 minutes = 6×35 = 210°.

Now area of the sector is given by \frac{\theta}{360} × πr²

Area of the sector = \frac{210}{360} × πr²

Area of the sector = \frac{7}{12} × π×7² = 89.80 cm².
