Given,

  • 36:_ = 9:5 is given.

To find,

  • We have to find the missing number.

Solution,

We can simply find the missing number by using the concept of proportionality.

Let us suppose the missing number to be x.

                36/x = 9/5

By cross multiplying, we get

                36 * 5 = x*9

Shifting 9 from RHS to LHS, we get

           36 * 5/9  = x

                 20    = x

Hence, the missing number in the equivalent ratios 36 : __ = 9 : 5 is (b) 20.
