SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The mode of data 3 4 5 2 8 6 4 7 9 3

CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

MODE

For a set of observations mode is defined to be the value ( or values) of the sample ( or samples) which will occur with maximum frequency.

EVALUATION

First we arrange the data as shown as below

 \sf{x  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: f }

 \sf{2  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

 \sf{3  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 2 }

 \sf{4  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 2}

 \sf{5  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

 \sf{6  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

 \sf{7  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

 \sf{8 \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

 \sf{9  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \: \:  \: 1 }

From the table we see that both the sample values 3 & 4 have maximum frequencies 2

Hence the mode of the given data is 3 & 4

Additional Information :

Since the above distribution has two modes, so the distribution is BIMODAL

Given :  data 3 4 5 2 8 6 4 7 9 3

To Find : mode of data

Solution:

Given Data is  3 4 5 2 8 6 4 7 9 3

Arrange data in order

2  3   3   4  4   5   6  7  8  9

Frequency of 3 is 2

Frequency of 4 is 2

All other has frequency 1

So maximum frequency 2  is on 3 and 4

Hence double mode   3 and  4

mode of data 3 4 5 2 8 6 4 7 9 3  are 3 and 4

2  3   3   4  4   5  6  7  8  9

Median will be ( 4 + 5)/2 = 4.5

Mean = (2 + 3+ 3 + 4 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 )/10 =  51/10 = 5.1
