ADVANTAGE-

THEY GAVE A GENERAL IDEA TO THE PEOPLE ABOUT THE PERIODIC TABLE AND WERE ABLE TO CLASSIFY THE ELEMENTS .

ACCORDING TO THEM THE PROPERTIES OF ELEMENTS ARE THE  PERIODIC FUNCTION OF THEIR ATOMIC MASSES.

MENDELLEV ALSO PREDICTED THE EXISTENCE OF THOSE ELEMENTS WHICH WERE YET TO BE DISCOVERED


LIMITATION-

THE OLD PERIODIC TABLE WAS IRRELEVANT AND NOT AUTHENTIC AS PRACTICALLY THE PROPERTIES OF ELEMENTS ARE THE PERIODIC FUNCTION OF THEIR ATOMIC NUMBER

THEREFORE THE OLD PERIODIC TABLE WAS UNABLE TO EXPLAIN THE POSITION OF RARE EARTH METALS AND ISOTOPES.
