given mass of solute= 18 g

and molecular mass of solute = 12x6 + 1x12 +16x6 =180

then, the no. of moles= 18/180= 0.1 mol

now, molality = no. of moles of solute/ wt. of solvent ( in kg)

=0.1 x 1000/500

=0.2 molal
