Answer:

CxH8

alkene,

alkene has a formula of CnH2n

so, 2n = 8

n= 4

so above alkene is C4H8

and similarly the other alkene is C10H20.

so molecular masses of X and Y are

X = 4×12 = 48

Y = 20×1 = 20.

hope it helped.

48 and 20

Explanation:

CxH8

alkene,

CnH2n is the formula for alkene.

as a result, 2n = 8

(n=4)

C4H8 is the alkene above it.

Similarly, C10H20 is the other alkene.

As a result, the molecular masses of X and Y are

X = 4 X 12 = 48

Y = 20 X 1 = 20

Following the given substance, we may get the molecule's molecular mass:

  • Determine the compound's or molecule's formula.
  • Determine the number of atoms in each element of the compound or molecule using the formula.
  • Multiply each element's atomic weight by the number of atoms in that particular element.
  • Carry out the same procedure for all of the constituents in the molecule or complex.
  • Add together all of the values you got in the previous step.
  • The molecular mass of the material can then be calculated by adding the unit as grams/mole.
