2 × M + x × 16 = 44

[ since we know that EQUIVALENT WEIGHT=MOLECULER WEIGHT/VALENCE(X)]

2 ( 14 × x ) + 16 x = 44

∴ x =1

Atomic weight  = 14 × 1 = 14
