Nitrogen

The atomic number of nitrogen is 7 with the electronic configuration 2,5. In order to complete its octet it needs 3 electrons. Now, both the atoms of nitrogen needs 3 electrons each to become stable. Hence, they share 3 electrons with each other and forms triple covalent bonds. As the bond is formed by the sharing of electrons it is known as covalent bond.
