The molecules of water have more energy as compared to molecules of ice at same temperature. justify this statement in detail.

Let us consider a situation where water and ice exist simultaneously in equilibrium. 
Now, due to the fact that there is equilibrium between two states, we can surely say that heat is provided to ice. The temperature is 273.15K (0 degrees centigrade).
When heat is provided to ice, the ice molecules utilize the heat to break inter-molecular bonds. This leads to formation of water molecules in liquid phase with extra heat energy. Thus, water molecules have latent heat of fusion which is not shown on thermometer but it exists. This extra heat in water molecules is the reason why molecules of water has more energy than molecules of ice at the same temperature.
